Great Cuisine in Senegal
Food bloggers will definitely enjoy visiting the beautiful of the country of Senegal. Aside from the scenic tourist spots, they have delicious food that you can only find in this country. Senegalese food is made of a rich blend of fresh, local ingredients and multicultural flavors from France, Portugal, the Middle East, the Americas, and even Vietnam.
For breakfast, Senegalese eat bread like croissants and pastries. Their main meals often consist of rice dishes. The favorite national dish is thieboudienne, which consists of chunks of fish stuffed with herbs that are served on a bed of rice and vegetables.
One of the major issues in Senegal is a large number of child beggars. To call the attention of the government and other people, Ousseynou Khadim Bèye is a Senegalese indie game developer made a socio-politically charged game. The app’s name is called Cross Dakar City where Mamadou, a Senegalese child beggar, is trying to cross the streets of Dakar in order to find his parents and return home. He has to avoid fast moving vehicles, bombs, and rivers in the six levels of the game. According to Bèye, he wanted to highlight the issue of child begging in Senegal where several child beggars, who are young as seven, become accident victims, subject to kidnappings, and sexual abuse. In 2010, a non-profit organization with a name of Human Rights Watch estimated that there are 50,000 child beggars in the streets of Senegal. If you want to support and increase the awareness of this issue, you can click here to download the game.
